Seriously...this thing isn’t even trying to make pressure for the hydro-struts and he budgets “a couple grand.”

Ha!

“How could it be so cheap?”

Well, if the locks and radio already aren’t working, you can probably guess that there are a few issues.

Also, I find this dude insufferable.

Hey now, it’s probably just a fuse...

It’s always just a fuse, or a relay, or frayed wiring or a fiber-optic cable that can be bridged. Right up until it isn’t.

This is a man with no concept of money and who I consider generally dangerous if he’s got young viewers.

“Hey kids, you can buy a formerly super expensive car for just $5k, it’ll be super easy to fix!”

And then it isn’t. And you’re either out the $5k it cost you to buy the car (which personalities forget is a ton of money for a lot of people) or be out $10k to fix it. And that’s not easy money to get back.

Fuck this guy.

At least Tavarish and Tyler Hoover tell it like it is or show you how to do it the cheap way.

Tavarish does exactly this.

*snicker* I’d really like to see the follow-up video in two or three months once he realizes how much all those little fixes add up to. Never mind if something major goes south.

“This is a great fixer upper”

You can buy this AMG S65 for the price of a 2006 Taurus!

Then proceed to spend three more Tauruses in repairs.

I think a Mike Finnegan quote works here. “If you spend about $200,000 on this you’ll have a $20,000 car.”

My friend has been trying to figure out why his passenger side brake light bulb blows about once a month for the last 4 years. Electrical issues are the best.

I would rather have 1 broken AMG S65 over 3 2006 Taurus’.

Good point. I don’t think anyone actually wants a 2006 Taurus.

Just a couple fuses! Bahahaha

More like a PSE pump, which is likely full of water, due to a very poorly repaired rear end after a wreck. Fixing the body properly, doing water intrusion, and replacing the PSE should take care of at least half of the electrical issues. Let’s budget $3-4k for that.

The MOST ring is probably down, possibly due to a bad audio gateway or head unit. Let’s budget another $3k for that. Let’s say another $1500 for miscellaneous interior, body, and electrical.

Now let’s get to the fun stuff! Suspension, to start. ABC obviously isn’t working. Best case, a leaky hose and a flush; let’s say $1500. More realistically it will be a bit worse of than that, let’s say another $3-4k.

That thing didn’t even sound right. Notice how it sounded lopey, like a big American V8? Pretty sure it’s got at least one dead cylinder. Let’s throw coils and plugs at it to start, $3k.

Let’s budget an extra $5k for various other maintenance and repair items. You know it’ll need them because this thing obviously has been neglected mechanically.

Oh hey! My estimate without even seeing this car, or properly diagnosing anything, stands at $20k! Dealer prices mind you, budgeting $5-7k just for labor. Good luck DIY-ing more than basic maintenance. Most of the parts would be imbecilic to get used, or not available aftermarket.

Conclusion; Buy this car if your vehicle budget is $20-25k. If that’s the case, HELL YEAH!

I laughed so hard when I saw that. When I saw that it was an S65 I instinctively though about the impending ABC clusterfuck.

To be fair, I actually bought one of these and sorted out all the issues for about $12,000. I’m $29,000 into the car, and I know for a fact that this is a better value than a new accord. That being said, anyone who postures that one of these can be cheap to own can choke on my stack of repair invoices lol.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard how”my buddy works on construction equipment, so he can fix the hydraulics, right?” People who think this car can be cheaply run amuse me.

I think I may have crossed the $30,000 mark with the collision repairs, but since that was the insurance company’s money...who can really say.

But yeah. Several trees have died to produce the stacks of repair estimates and invoices...
